We spent most of the month of April honing our volleyball and dance skills. K-2 students worked on striking a balloon as well as a large volleyball. First and second graders did a catching and throwing game over the net, while 3-6th graders were challenged to see how long they could keep a volley going. Students had some fantastic dance moves and perhaps will share some with you at home.
For the month of May we will continue striking a ball, this time with our feet as we delve into soccer, kickball and related skills.
I want to thank the PTO/PTA for sponsoring the family nutrition night in April with Brit Richardson from Full Bite Nutrition. For anyone who missed it and is interested in the topic, I highly recommend the book How to Raise An Intuitive Eater: Raising the Next Generation with Food and Body Confidence by Amee Severson and Sumner Brooks. (I have a copy if you'd like to borrow it!)
And a shout out to the Green Mountain Valley School Nordic Ski Team for waxing both schools' entire fleets of cross-country skis! Thanks to the student helpers at each school who helped with organizing and loading the skis. Fun fact: over Feb/March break I ran (skied?) into the GMVS Nordic Ski Team as we both happened to be traversing the Catamount Ski Trail from Bolton to Trapps. I planted a seed for this project with their community service coordinator, also their van driver, as we skied deep in the woods above the Cotton Brook Valley. I'm grateful this came to fruition and look forward to lots of smooth gliding on those freshly waxed skis next winter!
