In kindergarten PE, we’ve been working on catching and throwing. Our favorite game to practice these skills is “Hungry Hippos”. If a student catches a throw from a teammate while standing on a spot, they get to keep that spot, aka a hippo snack! Ask your kindergartner to show you how they stand when they are ready to catch.
Grades 1-6 have been learning floor hockey skills in PE, culminating with floor hockey scrimmages focusing on sportsmanship and teamwork.
In health class, all students have learned about germs (bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa that make us sick) and how we can reduce sharing them (washing our hands, covering our mouths when we cough). We are now focusing on mental health and learning about friendships and relationships including how to show kindness and empathy.
