Stunts and Tumbling

In March, we headed inside for some "stunts and tumbling," aka gymnastics. This unit is all about building balance, coordination and strength- skills that can be applied to any sport. We also discussed the usefulness of some skills like a "shoulder roll" that can be used if one trips to avoid a face plant.

Want to practice at home with your student? Try that shoulder roll by watching this video or try some balances by following this video.

Thanks to Warren Elementary School for loaning us their super fun vault box! Students had a chance to try this as well as rolling and cartwheeling on our mats, jumping off a box and sticking the landing, climbing the rope, and holding a balance. Students at WES also tried the rings and students at MES learned some yo-yo tricks alongside gymnastics.

Thank you also to families who supported students in their preference to bring "grippy socks" to school for these P.E. days- in April, we'll be back to wearing sneakers for P.E.!

Please enjoy these photos from our time flipping and rolling!

Be well and tumble on,

Mrs. Zaino
