Fall PE at MES

We are wrapping up a catching and throwing unit this week (including wiffle ball for grades 3-5) and looking towards beginning biking on Tuesday, October 15th. Students should bring their own bike helmet if they have one on the following dates:

PE Grades K-4- Bring your bike helmet:

Tuesday*, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16

Monday, October 21 and Wednesday, October 23

Monday, October 28 and Wednesday, October 30

*On this day we will bike during health class b/c biking is a healthy activity!

PE Grades 5-6- Bring your bike helmet:

Tuesday, October 15 and Wednesday, October 16

Tuesday, October 22 and Wednesday, October 23

Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30

Bike Party before Open House: 4:30-5:30 pm Thursday, October 17th

We have a fleet of bikes and extra helmets for those who need them. If it's possible for your family to bring your child's bike to school this is helpful as we have a limited number of bikes in each size. Please label bikes and helmets with the student's name- masking tape works great for this. Bikes should be in good working order (thanks for checking brakes and tire pressure in advance). Students who are still learning will use a balance bike. Please leave bikes with training wheels at home or take the training wheels and pedals off to convert to a balance bike

Bikes can be dropped off along the fence on the rec field. If you’d like your child’s bike to be locked, you need to provide the lock and your child will need to be able to operate it on their own. Moretown School is not responsible for lost or stolen bikes or helmets. Bikes may be picked up and dropped off each day (dates above) or left for the duration of the unit. Thanks for your help in getting us riding!!

Students should also bring weather appropriate clothing (our early morning P.E. students- Grades 5, 6, and K) tend to have cooler weather and wet grass). Students in these classes may want to bring waterproof footwear or change of dry shoes for afterwards. Sneakers or boots are great- please no crocs, sandals, dress shoes/heels.

Thanks for Considering these Volunteer Opportunities:

-Help load the trailer afterschool on Wednesday October 16th or Wednesday, October 23rd

-Help buckle helmets and get students on bikes during PE classes (especially helpful for our youngest classes from 9:35-10:15 (Kindergarten) and 11:30-12:50 (1st and 2nd Grade). Please email kzaino@huusd.org if you can help!

Pedal on,

Ms. Zaino
