Nutrition News Volume 2!

Wishing everyone a most wonderful summer break! We wrapped up our nutrition unit at WES last week, and much longer ago at MES. With summer comes fun in the sun, lazy days at the lake, and endless requests for snacks.

I found a great blog post by Rachel Rothman, MS, RD, about how to handle those requests in a way that both validates their hunger and curbs the non-stop snack express.

I've previously recommended the book How to Raise An Initiative Eater by Sumner Brooks and Amy Severson. I realize that finding time to sit and read can be a luxury, and perhaps a luxury you prefer to reserve for other genres.

As an unashamed millennial, I've also leaned into the educational resources that can be found on Instagram. Of course, these sources should be vetted and I generally look to Registered Dietitians (RD or RDN) as the authority for nutrition knowledge.

The slide deck below (no social media required to view!) contains content, some directly from "the gram," on intuitive eating for families, in an easy to digest (pun intended) format. Many of the slides also include links for you to explore more in depth if you please. I invite you to check it out! It can also be viewed at https://meslibrary.my.canva.site/family-nutrition

Have a fantastic, flavorful summer!
