WES PE November Updates

After our bike unit wrapped up, students practiced catching and throwing skills. Ask your child if they can tell you the difference between an overhand throw and an underhand throw. We also worked on our "striking with a short implement" skills (as it is called in the PE standards)...aka we hit Wiffle balls off of a cone with a bat, self-tossed with a tennis racket, and older students tried their hand at swinging at a pitch. Ms. Vandal's class got treated to a double rainbow while we were outside!

We're spending November doing a school-wide team challenge unit called the Gratitude Games. We've watched some clips from the Paris Olympics and discussed how sports can unite us even when we are on different teams (or from different countries, like the Olympics). We're practicing showing gratitude to our teammates and opponents for acts of kindness during the games. A favorite event so far has been the scooter relay!
