Mid-February PE Updates

This time of year, every moment of sunshine can feel like a gift! I've been loving chasing that feeling in the fluffy fields, and from the looks on students’ faces, they have been too. The added energy that the Olympics bring to winter sports has also been fueling our PE classes, including using our imaginations to bring winter indoors when the weather necessitates it.

If you haven't had a chance to check out photos posted on February 3, take a look here

Moretown PE

While Monday mornings have presented lots of sub-zero temps, three classes were able to get out cross-country skiing last Monday after the sun warmed things up a bit! Classes scheduled earlier in the day stayed inside for some Winter Olympics inspired station like beanbag curling, scooter bobsled and ice dancing. We plan to Nordic ski again with ALL grades on Monday, February 16.

Partners scored a perfect 10 in ice dance!

Waitsfield PE

Waitsfield students have had two (grade 1-2), three (grade K), or four (grade 5-6) cross-country ski days and took some indoor time this week to introduce circus skills in anticipation of Troy Wunderle's artist-in-residence next week. We also threw in some Winter Olympic skills like beanbag biathlon, curling and quarter pipe for good measure. Next week, PE will be inside as we enter full circus mode with Troy.
Beanbag biathlon- students have five chances to land a beanbag on a target and must "ski" a penalty lap for every miss.
Students practiced ski and snowboard tricks like 180's and grabs.
Which stone made it closest to the button in beanbag curling?
Will the bobsled stay on course?
